GeneMOb is a Java software framework developed to facilitate integration and sharing of information about genes. It manipulates software constructs called Gene Mobile Objects, and is available in two configurations: GeneMOb_net is a distributed application using Remote Method Invocation (RMI), Java Web Start, and MySQL database. GeneMOb_desk is a stand-alone desktop application using Java DB as a back-end. Both configurations have identical graphical user interface and can exchange data by means of XML files, but the latter requires no server and database administration. The GeneMOb architecture has been more recently applied to the management of other types of information, such as patents .
GeneMOb is also a Trade Name (Assumed Name), certified for conducting business in Dutchess County, New York and Somerset County, New Jersey by Piotr Masiakowski.
